Cervelli to the DL

It is another beautiful day in Scranton and newly acquired Russ Ortiz will be on the mound. He will not have Francisco Cervelli to throw to, however, since a hand injury has sidelined him. Chris Stewart will fill in. Here is tonight’s lineup:

In the 2nd, walk, balk, hit put Ortiz in a jam, but he wiggled off the hook this time with 2 infield pops and a fly ball.

A bases loded, 2 out RBI single by Chris Stewart and SWB takes the early lead. Juan Miranda was thrown out trying to score from second to end the inning.

The Yanks scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd on doubles by Pena, Miranda, and de Caster, and an RBI single by Austin Jackson.

Ortiz’ night is done

Mike Dunn is in for Ortiz in the 7th. Ortiz’ final line: 6.0 3 0 0 3 3. Decent!

Wrapping it up in Scranton

SWB added a run in the 8th on a double by Yurendell de Caster and an RBI single by John Rodriguez. Edwar came on in the 9th and made things interesting by allowing a single and a double, but preserved the shutout. SWB takes the Iron Pigs 6-0.

A correction to Nova's line...Kroenke allowed both inherited runners to score so Nova is charged with both. A double steal and singe by Desmond Jennings tied the game in the top of the 8th.
