SWB Tonight: Jason Hirsh vs Joe Savery

Finally, after 10 days, the SWB Yankees are in town and I get to see a game. We are coming down to the wire as far as the playoff picture goes, and SWB holds a 3.5 game lead over second place Syracuse prior to tonight's action. We are without Francisco Cervelli (sore hand) and Cody Ransom (injured thumb). We are in a rain delay, but it's a warm August night and I'm ready for baseball! Here is tonight's lineup:

  1. Kevin Russo, 2B

  2. Colin Curtis, RF

  3. Austin Jackson, CF

  4. Shelley Duncan, DH

  5. Juan Miranda, 1B

  6. Yurendell de Caster, 3B

  7. John Rodriguez, LF

  8. Reegie Corona, SS

  9. Brian Peterson, C

Wow, this Hirsh kid is BIG!

They have him listed at 6'8", 250, but he looks bigger than that! He was aquired from the Rockies for a PTBNL. Maybe Kei Igawa. Just dreaming.

Austin flashes his glove

Two nice catches by Austin Jackson in center in the top of the 3rd kept Hirsh in the game. His two defensive gems prevented extra base hits and further damage. Still 2-0 Pigs.

Claggett in for Kroenke

Claggett came in with two outs in the 6th and immediately gave up the tying run on three hits. This move by Miley I do not understand, since Kroenke was sailing along. SWB 5, Pigs 5.

SWB 6, Pigs 5 in the 6th

A single by Yurendell de Caster, bunt single by John Rodriguez, sac bunt by Reegie Carona, and an RBI single by Brian Peterson and the Yanks re-take the lead, 6-5.

Final from Scranton, Yanks win 10-5

A four run 7th was the final nail in the coffin as the SWB Yankees defeat the Iron Pigs, 10-5. Shelley Duncan and Reegie Carona both had doubles in the frame and 2 RBI each. Anthony Claggett got the win, Amaury Sanit closed for SWB.

A correction to Nova's line...Kroenke allowed both inherited runners to score so Nova is charged with both. A double steal and singe by Desmond Jennings tied the game in the top of the 8th.
