Baseball?  In Scranton?

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod Yep, it is almost reality. There has not been a game here since July 6 so it’s good to be back at the park. Not even the appearance of Kei Igawa on the mound tonight can spoil what is turning out to be the warmest night (84 at game time) this season. Tonight, the second half begins with the Gwinnett Braves in town. Tonight’s lineup:

  1. Kevin Russo, 3B

  2. Ramiro Pena, SS

  3. Colin Curtis, CF

  4. Shelley Duncan, RF

  5. Juan Miranda, 1B

  6. Francisco Cervelli, C

  7. Yurendell DeCaster,

  8. DH Eric Duncan, LF

  9. Doug Bernier, 2B

Braves 1, SWB 0

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod A Brian Barton RBI double off Kei Igawa puts the Braves in front 1-0 in the third.

SWB 1, Braves 1.

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod Kevin Russo’s sac fly scored Yurendell de Caster who doubled and reached third on Eric Duncan’s single. After 3 it’s 1-1.

Game Update

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod Clint Sammons’ RBI single scored Reid Gorecki and the Braves retake the lead 2-1 in the 4th. Sammons stole 2nd on Kei Igawa but Cervelli made it a close play with a great throw from his knees. I can’t believe Molina is the better option.

Cervelli!

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod Francisco Cervelli tied the game with a clutch RBI single and then scored all the way from first on a 2 run error by third baseman Van Pope. SWB leads 4-2.

Tied again

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod A correction to last inning, that was a 1 run error in the fourth to make it 3-2 SWB. In the fifth, Chris Burke’s RBI double tied the game again at 3.

This Cervelli kid can play!

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod So far, Cervelli has picked off a runner on 1st, gunned down a runner trying to steal second and has a clutch RBI single. He’s a keeper. In the mean time Kei Igawa has 8 K’s and only 2 walks. Still 3-3 after 5 1/2.

A Shelling by Shelley!!!!!

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod A 2 run shot in the bottom of the 6th and SWB takes the lead 5-3.

Cervelli guns down another runner!

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod In the 8th. That’s 3 tonight. As I was posting that, Kelley Johnson hit a booming RBI double off Romulo Sanchez and was wild pitched to third. Then after a walk to Jones, Dave Miley brought in Albaladejo with runners on the corners and one out. Reid Gorecki hit an RBI single to score Johnson. It’s tied again at 5-5 in the 8th.

A de Caster Blaster!!!!

Posted on 16 July 2009 by Zod A walk off home run to lead off the 9th inning by Yurendell de Caster gives the SWB Yankees a dramatic 6-5 win.
