A beautiful night for baseball in Scranton!

Posted on 23 June 2009 by Zod It is probably the most perfect night in over a month here in Scranton. Tonight the SWB Yankees take on the Syracuse Chiefs after some of the most sloppy play of the season last night. Going for SWB is Kei Igawa and for the Chiefs it’s J.D.Martin. Xavier Nady is here but not in tonight’s lineup: Kevin Russo, 2B Austin Jackson, LF Cody Ransom, SS Shelley Duncan, RF Juan Miranda, 1B John Rodriguez, DH Colin Curtis, CF Justin Leone, 3B Kevin Cash, C

Kevin Russo good then bad

Posted on 23 June 2009 by Zod Kevin Russo drove in Justin Leone for the first SWB run and then fell asleep at 1B and got picked off. He walked very slowly back to the dugout. SWB 1, Chiefs 0 in the third.

Top of the 4th

Posted on 23 June 2009 by Zod A Ryan Langerhans single, Brad Eldred double, and an RBI single by Kory Casto gave the Chiefs their first run . Brad Eldred scored on a double play for the second run. SWB 1, Chiefs 2.

Top of the 6th

Posted on 23 June 2009 by Zod Seth Bynum hit a 2 run shot in the top of the 6th off Igawa and it is now Chiefs 4, SWB 1.

Top of the 7th

Posted on 23 June 2009 by Zod Romulo Sanchez in for SWB. Jorge Padilla singled scoring Jhonatan Solano who reached on an error. Chiefs 5, SWB 1 in the 7th.

Top of the 8th

Posted on 23 June 2009 by Zod Doubles by Kory Casto and Pete Orr plate another run for Suracuse. Chiefs 6, SWB 1.

Final Chiefs 6 SWB 1

Posted on 23 June 2009 by Zod This is SWB’s 3rd loss in a row. Over the last 3 games they have allowed 7 unearned runs ans have committed 5 errors. J.D. Martin (8-2) got the win. I have no idea why this guy is down here when Washington has such a need for pitchers with warm bodies. He has great control and can strike batters out. If the Nationals don’t want him, we’ll take him!
