Toward the end of the winter, a family member (we'll call her "Jane") was getting close to finishing her first year at Boston University.  She's a journalism student, oddly enough, and is taking classes at my alma mater, the College of Communication at Boston University. One afternoon, while outside enjoying the warming spring weather, Jane hurt her leg and decided to go to the student health center.  During the exam, she also asked the doctor to take a look at a spot on her shoulder that had been bothering her for awhile. That spot turned out to be Hodgkins.  For the last few months, Jane has been undergoing treatment that has sapped whatever energy she could muster.  It appears that the treatment is working, but we won't know for sure until the fall. In honor of Jane, my wife is running the New York City Marathon on November 1st, 2009 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.  She's setup a website that allows people to make tax deductible donations via credit card. Please make a donation to support  my wife's  participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.  I hope you will forward this link to others and keep Jane and all families battling leukemia and lymphoma in your prayers. You can reach the donation page here.
