Cano's Not Going Anywhere

Contrary to some of the rumors flying around, Robinson Cano will more than likely be in pinstripes on Opening Day. Mark Feinsand reports:
Forget anything you’ve heard about a Robinson Cano-for-Matt Kemp deal. Not to say it won’t happen down the line, but the Dodgers and Yankees haven’t even talked about Cano. I was told by someone in the know that the Dodgers won’t deal Kemp unless they get a few usable players back, and I don’t see the Yankees sending three guys west for him if Cano is one of them.
Still not convinced? Kat O'Brien says:
Both Yankees general manager
Brian Cashman
and Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti poured cold water on the idea that second baseman Robinson Cano could be traded to the Dodgers. "We plan on having Robby as our second baseman," Cashman said. "We signed him last year as one of our long-term pieces."
Look, Cano had a bad 2008. He ranked 14th in OPS among major league second basemen but his second half numbers were much closer to where he was in 2007, when he ranked fourth in OPS. Second base is not a high offense position, despite Pedroia's MVP. The Yankees would have to be insane to get rid of a 26 year old second baseman who has shown as much promise as Cano has. There aren't many alternatives that will equal his possible offense or his upside.
